suppose的基本意思是“假设,假定”,通常指根据一些事实或现象,暗含着自己对对方所说的话信心不足,但自己目前无法证明对方是错误的。指缺乏确切事实,根据一些现象进行的推测。

suppose后面加什么

1、suppose意思是“假定,认为,想象,需要……条件”suppose后直接跟宾语。

如:

 An invention supposes an inventor.

要有发明,必须先有发明者。

Let us suppose another war.

让我们假定再来一场战争吧。

2、suppose可以跟that引导的从句,表示“认为,猜想”,从句用将来时或一般现在时(表示将来要发生的动作)。

如:

I suppose that you will be there.

我猜想你会到那里去的。

I suppose it rains tomorrow.

我猜想明天会下雨。

3、suppose+that+真实条件句,表示“假如,如果”,suppose是从属连词,不是动词。可表示提出建议或请求,也可表示某种“假定”。

如:

Suppose I were dismissed, what should I do?

假如我被解雇了,该怎么办呢?

Suppose it rains, what shall we do?

假如下雨,我们怎么办?

4、suppose sb./sth. (to be) +形容词 / 介词短语/名词、不定式的结构。

如:

She had supposed him (to be) very rich.

她原以为他很有钱。

What makes you suppose him to be connected with them?

你怎么会认为他与他们有联系呢?

Everyone supposes him (to be) poor, but he is really quite wealthy. 

大家都认为他很穷,实际上很阔。

She was supposed to be an excellent student in our school. 

她被认为是我校优秀的学生。

I supposed her to have already left for home.

我认为她已经动身回家了。

5、suppose 可用于“ be supposed +不定式”的结构。

be supposed to do sth. = should do sth. 意为“应该 / 理应做某事”,表示被期望或被要求(按规则、惯例)做某事。按规定、习惯、安排等)应当,应,该,须;一般认为;人们普遍觉得会;

如:

You're supposed to buy a ticket, but not many people do.

按说应当买票,不过买的人不多。

I thought we were supposed to be paid today.

我以为我们今天会领到薪水呢。

You were supposed to be here an hour ago!

你本该在一小时以前就到这儿!

assume, suppose“认为”的区别

1、assume指把一件尚未证实的事作为事实或真相, 含有较强的武断成分。

凡肯定与事实或真相不同的情况下,一般用assume。

例如:

Some people assume that there is life on the other planets when they see UFOs.

有些人看到了不明飞行物就想当然地推测其他的行星上有生命。

2、suppose表示有一定根据的猜想。在口语短语中,I suppose和I guess用法相同,但suppose更常见于英国英语,guess更常见于美国英语。

例如:

I suppose he left home at a very young age.

我猜他很年轻的时候就离开家了。
